I am an LGBTQIA Ally.
Today’s news headlines have revealed a fierce backlash against LGBTQIA folk. Each time they move one step forward, there is a vicious effort to push them two steps back.
A great LGBTQIA ally nowadays needs to be up-to-date on the national news. The forces against those who identify as LGBTQIA continue to marshal political power and are operating with impunity at the highest levels of the political structure.
We can be great allies in many ways: providing day-to-day emotional support and using the power of our collective voices in solidarity. Allies need to know when the news cycle might be traumatizing their LGBTQIA friends, so they can proactively ramp up their support during those times.
I am here to state my LGBTIA allyship. I want you to know exactly where I stand. I might lose some business because of this, but love is love, and right is right.
I saw a great meme recently that said, “I would rather see two men holding hands than two men holding guns.” Brilliant.
